Jester's Musings

Untold Scottish Adventures

This article will serve as a running collection of adventures that I have on my radar. A lot of the files for my adventures will be tracked and planned out on github

I'm looking to not only tick off as many munros as possible, but to do it in a fun and challenging way.

Munro bagging trips

Ben Lui 4

Benc Cruachan 4

Coming from the central belt, this is one of the most accessible multi-munro days you can have.

Great wall of Rannoch 4

I have already completed this one, and so I'll simply give you the polished route. The main route can be completed, starting from Bridge O' orchy in one of 2 ways.

The fun 2-day version of this route will take you partly along the west highland way before branching off and up to Gorton Bothy. The day after which you will start the hike from the direction as indicated on the .gpx file

The Quick one day will see you do this in a day and likely hitch back along the road between north and centre of Bridge O' Orchy.

Glennfinnan 7

Starting from Glenfinnan viaduct, you will wind your way through 7 Munros. Split across 3 days, this works out as 2-3-2 Munros per day with each day coming in at around 18km distance & 1.3km elevation.

You will be able to rest up well at Sourlies bothy on the last night.

The last day will bring you down into Inverie where you will find Britain's most remote pub. However, you can't get too pished as you will need to catch the ferry back to Mallaig. Hopefully, if you time it right in the summer, you should make the last train back to Glenfinnan viaduct. This will even be able to link you through to the cities and relinquishes any need for a car. Which means more pints for you!
